Orange-y-Chocolate Ooey Gooey Campfire Cakes

Blog

orange chocolate campfire cake dessert recipeOh my sweet heavenly treats… Here we are with yet another super easy and delicious campire dessert recipe! If you love the taste of chocolate with a hint of orange, you’re in for a real treat, and I speak from experience when I say, the kids will love to help make these!

Here’s what you’ll need:

8 whole oranges

1 box of Turtle Brownie mix (or regular brownie mix if you prefer)

Plus all of the ingredients called for on the box.

P.S. You can pre-mix the batter at home, and bring it in a Tupperware container so it’s ready to go at camp.

Here’s how you do it:

Cut the top off of each orange, set it aside for closing the orange back up, and hollow out the insides. We will not be using the insides, so feel free to eat it up, juice it, whatever.

After the oranges are hollowed out, fill them with the brownie batter, making sure to leave about an inch of space from the top as it will expand during cooking.

Place the top of the orange back on, and wrap two times completely with aluminum foil, making sure it’s nice and tight so that it will not spill out.

Place the wrapped oranges right onto nice hot coals of campfire and allow to cook for approximately 40 minutes, being sure to turn periodically so as to cook on each side.

Allow to cool for a few minutes, unwrap, grab a spoon, and enjoy!

P.S.

Make it your own by throwing some nuts, treats, caramel sauce, whipped cream or anything else that sounds good to you on top!
