Have you heard the latest news? Cove Palisides State Park in Oregon is reopening it’s Crooked River campground. The reopening will be done in stages. Walk-in’s have already been re-opened for the North loop, and the public is able to make reservations as of June 15th. The entire campground will be open by July 1st – just in time to celebrate our nation’s birthday on the 4th!
This is a 40 year old campground that has undergone some huge renovations that everyone is sure to appreciate. According to the Oregon Parks and Recreation Division press release: “new paving, new water and sewer systems, upgraded electrical sites, three new restrooms/shower buildings, a new RV dump station, and a larger amphitheater. Forty-two sites also were reconfigured for traffic flow, and four sites upgraded for ADA accessibility. The improvements are funded largely by Oregon Lottery dollars dedicated to state parks by voters.” Now, doesn’t all that sound exciting?! Campers will also appreciate the new, two-lane RV waste water dump station and a large new amphitheater, sited in a better location for programs.
The weather is sunny and warm in the summer months and chilly but generally mild in the winter. And if you didn’t bring your RV and you aren’t interested in tent camping, they do offer cabin rentals. There is also a marina, restaurant, and store right on site. Nature lovers will find about 10 miles of hiking trails that give access to areas rich in wildlife and beautiful scenery, and if water play is your thing, then you’ll be in seventh heaven! This beautiful lake is the summertime “go to” place for swimming, kayaking, boating, water skiing, and jet skiing, so be sure to bring your toys, or rent them at the marina!
