A staple of my family’s holiday recipes is sausage balls! They’re incredibly easy to make, and perfect for breakfast or pre-dinner snacking. They also make the ideal party food. The easy holiday recipe for sausage balls that we like to use has only 4 ingredients and is easy to keep in a food storage container (just kidding. They won’t last long enough to keep in a container!). Your family will love them too – take them with you when you travel for the holidays in your new or used RV!
Ridiculously Easy Sausage Balls
Ingredients:
- 1 lb spicy ground sausage
- 1 box Red Lobster cheddar biscuit mix
- 1 egg
- 1 cup shredded Pepper Jack cheese (if you want something a bit less spicy, go with a mild Monterey Jack or Cheddar)
You’ll also need:
- Mixing bowl
- Rubber spatula
- Cookie sheet
- Parchment paper
- Meat thermometer
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Use parchment paper to line the cookie sheet. .
- In a mixing bowl, simply mix all ingredients together, including the seasoning that comes with the biscuit mix.
- Drop by heaping tablespoons onto cookie sheet. Gently roll into balls and pop the sheet into the oven. Bake at 350 until your meat thermometer reads 160 degrees – about 15-20 minutes. The timing will vary based on your altitude and oven, but 160 is when pork is “done” and safe to eat. Plus, when you cook by temperature, you avoid over-cooking and drying out your meat!
