Just four hours north of Fresno, is the dreamy rustic getaway known as Wilbur Hot Springs located in Wilbur Springs, California. Wilbur Hot Springs attracts soaking enthusiasts from all over the world, as they are known for having one of the most theraputic and medicinal springs anywhere on the planet. A recent article from rvnews.com quoted the owner as saying, “We have arguably the most medicinal of all of the hot springs on the planet,” said Dr. Richard Louis Miller, the resort’s owner since 1976. “People know it within a minute of being in the water. It literally feels different.” The water is rich in lithium, a mood stabilizer, and has an unusually high concentration of sulphur, which has remarkable healing effects on a variety of skin conditions, from acne to psoriasis. But when a wildfire destroyed the resort last year, Dr. Miller, who was self insured, faced a critical challenge: How to rebuild the resort as quickly and affordably as possible, while still providing his guests with the first class accommodations they would expect from a world class resort. His solution is one that is increasingly being used by resorts in scenic locations across the country: Cavco park models. The 399-square-foot cottage like units have been used as rental accommodations by the campground industry for years. The units are equipped with kitchens and bathrooms, flat screen TVs and other amenities. But while park models are typically used as family friendly vacation cottages, Cavco worked with San Francisco architect Nick Noyes to custom design 13 park model RV cottages that not only blend harmoniously with Wilbur Hot Springs’ natural setting, but contain the luxurious attributes of a world class resort.”
Today’s guests will appreciate the healing mineral waters and more – the hotel’s unique and rustic charm, the solitude and peace found there, the many opportunities to reconnect with nature, and taking part in enjoyable recreational activities afforded next door in the private 1,800-acre nature preserve open most of the year to registered guests. Wilbur Hot Springs resort offers the best for those seeking relaxation in a serene and natural setting or for a romantic getaway. The hotel offers 20 private guest rooms, a spacious suite with private bath & kitchen, a comfortable 11-bed bunkhouse, and 4 campsites. Sheltered by a Japanese-style “Fluminarium,” the hot springs water is channeled into three long “flumes” with average temperatures of 98, 105 and 110 degrees Fahrenheit. The natural hot waters in the flumes are enhanced by a large, cool-water spring fed pool with splendid vistas of the surrounding hills, an outdoor hot mineral sitting flume and a dry sauna. There’s lots of space for enjoying Wilbur’s Creek and the surrounding mountain view on the massive deck, which connects all of the hot spring areas.
