Zone In On Thousand Trails

Thousand Trails RV CampgroundsThousand Trails is the largest and most successful provider of RV resorts and campgrounds in North America with over 80 locations in 22 states and British Columbia, Canada. Thousand Trails has combined the beauty and relaxation of a scenic nature preserve with the resort-style amenities and security of an exclusive club. Each location boasts a secure gated community and park rangers to ensure campers safety. Most campsites are fully equipped with electrical, water and sewer hookups, as well as barbeque pits and picnic tables. They can accommodate a wide variety of RVs,  from pop-up campers to Class A motorhomes. In addition to their spacious RV and tent sites, Thousand Trails also offers a full range of rental accommodations, from cabins & cottages to yurts, so you can leave your RV or tent at home if you wish, and still enjoy their resorts in style. Annual membership is just $525 and you chose the “zones” or regions you wish to visit. You are charged no daily fees for the first 30 days that you camp each year, and any additional camping days beyond the first 30, you are charged only a modest daily usage fee of $3. To put this into perspective, their website offers this example: A couple who holds a zone camping pass and camps 75 days of the year in their big motorhome would  be expected to pay approximately $50 per night for the premium spots with the cement pad and the pull through access. This would come out to $3,750. With their zone camping pass, they pay only $660 which is made up of their $525 yearly fee and an additional $135 in usage fees for days 31 to 75. They save over $3,000! That’s some pretty significant savings! Thousand Trails does not lock you into any contract, and there is never a sales pitch or marketing gimmick to deal with. Sites are booked on a first come first served basis, and there is a 14 day cap on the length of stay at any one park. We have written blogs on activities and adventures in and around Central Oregon, such as Lava Lands Visitor Center, and the High Desert Museum, and as luck would have it, there’s a beautiful Thousand Trails park nestled right along the Little Deschutes River that would make a perfect home base for exploring Central Oregon. This beautiful park offers all the amenities you could want, and then some. In addition to the family center, spa, swimming pool, tennis courts, and mini-golf, they have kayaks, canoes, a restaurant, a movie house, and the list just keeps going.  It’s really the perfect campground, in a perfectly beautiful setting, offering something fun to do for everyone in your party. Are you a zone pass holder already? Do you have a favorite Thousand Trails park to share with us? We’d love to hear your feedback! You can post it here, or leave us a message on our Facebook page!
